Value for Attention by Powerpoint
Sunday, September 30, 2007 at 1:10PM I was recently asked to develop a course at UCT for Business Science, called "Attention Economics". It's an interesting concept that looks at Human Attention as a scarce resource that has economic value.
By placing value on Attention, I hope to instill more respectful and impactful ways of communicating in business, particularly in Marketing.
Anyway, as I get more involved in education, so I get exposed to more presentations. I've realised that there is an art to good presenting, and so I've been working hard at improving my own style. I just came across this useful set of slides that I thought worthwhile to share:

Thanks for sharing this, Dave. Found it really useful and valuable especially the idea of one point per slide. Think we often underestimate the way we are prone to bombarding our audiences and think the notion of the 1 Idea really makes people start thinking deeply about really investigating concepts. Elaine

I loved this Death by Powerpoint Presentation. If he hasn't seen it yet, Jon will love it too. He got me to write up an exercise called Storytelling for Presenters the other day - drawing on age-old and archetypal rules for storytelling to make memorable presentations. You two are really on the same page! Huddlemind is going to be such fun work.
