No longer a Podcast Virgin!

podcast logoMike Stopforth and I have just finished recording the first episode of our podcast: Amplitude – the SA new-marketing podcast. W00t w00t!

We’re having a bit of fun with this one and learning as we go along.

Here’s the blog, where you can find the first episode too.

We’re learning that podcasting is fairly technical and we’ve got lots to learn, but we hope that some of you will join us on this journey from episode 1.

We’re looking for a cool logo for it too, so if you’re a cool designer with an inspired idea for us then we’d love your input (and will be deeply appreciative and forthcoming with the linklove!).

Please let me know what you think of it of you choose to listen.

Focus on the outcome, not the technique

A way to be more powerful and innovative in your marketing is to start by focussing the end result that you want to achieve, instead of thinking about the tactics that you’re going to use to get there.

Most marketers I meet are very caught up on this technique or that tactic… but, really what they’re getting excited about is something that worked for someone else, somewhere else, with some other product.

When you focus on the result YOU want to achieve, and don’t worry about how you’re gonna get there (yet), then you open your mind to the most effective solutions to that particular problem.

Be specific though, and state what you’d be prepared to pay for your outcome. For example: “I want 3000 new signups in the next month, and for that I’m prepared to pay R25 000 and personally work 20 hours towards achieving that”.

I can virtually guarantee success with this visualisation. When you’re clear on your outcome, it allows you to be more creative.
